so my mom was kind of worried when there was no post last week. but everything is okay over here.
i had my first check up at 10 weeks. we tried to hear the heart beat but with what they are using it's really hit or miss that early. my next check up will be at 14 weeks and we should definitely hear it then. i hit 12 weeks tomorrow. sometimes i can't believe i have come this far and what is going on inside my body. i think hitting 12 weeks means i am pretty much out of the danger zone, but i still get a bit worried. i think all nerves regarding miscarriage will subside when i can hear a heart beat. only 2 1/2 weeks to wait. which seems like forever but things move pretty quickly. i am almost in my second trimester now and it's exciting to see my belly growing and to think that in the next few weeks it is really going to get bigger.
i have had issues buying maternity clothes. when we were trying i would look at websites that sold maternity clothes and think of all the things i wanted to buy and now that i am getting to that point i go into the store to buy clothes and everything seems so expensive. i am more interested in saving money for the baby then spending on myself lately. i think its been hard for me because these are clothes that i won't wear forever and will probably be sick of by the time november hits. so i found a great alternative. ROSS. yes ross. i hate that store to be honest, and i have never been a fan of trying to shop in cluttered places, but i have to say that it is great for this. especially if you can find good stuff. yesterday was that day. i bought 5 shirts and 2 bottoms for $65. i thought that was awesome. at the cheapest maternity store i would have paid double or more for what i was able to purchase there. oh and the maternity pants are way comfortable. i am at that stage where pants are getting tight in the waist band area and maternity pants are elastic.
another thought: i think that a lot of women who haven't been pregnant have a lot of pre conceived (pardon the pun) ideas about pregnancy. i know i did. i thought i would be super sick and luckily i haven't been, but instead i have been breaking out since about the week i found out i was pregnant...and i had beautiful skin before. and at the same time i hear each pregnancy can be different so maybe next time my skin will be great and i will be vomiting all the time, who knows. also, i used to be a little judgemental when women would say they were eating for 2. after all the books say you only need a few extra calories a day. bull$hit. in my experience i am totally eating for 2. my new theory is this. say you only need about 300 more calories a day while your pregnant, that isn't really much, if you are eating a 2000 calorie diet based on the national chart and what not. well, before pregnancy i was probably somewhere between 1200 to 1500 a day, on average. i wasn't a dieter i just ate when i was hungry and kept my portions in check, and i am a healthy eater. well now i am supposed to be at 2300 a day and going from about 1350 calories that is close to double. yep eating for 2. i still eat when i am hungry but i am hungry all the time. and i eat whatever i want. even some meats have made it back into my diet. i just let my body dictate what it needs and if i need double the food then so be it. i have only gained weight in my middle so far. i think roughly 7 pounds so far...but that is another post for another time.
last thought. i don't know if i have a maternal instinct about what gender my baby is. this is what i do know. it is 50/50 either way. we will be happy either way. i will be happy either way. i want both first. meaning i would love to have a boy first but at the same time i would love to have a girl. we have good names for either one. a lot of people have told me they think i am going to have a boy. i think they are wrong. but i don't know. so there maybe i have a maternal instinct and maybe i don't.

Have you tried the bella band? It's supposed to be for that in between stage when your regular pants are tight but maternity pants are big. They have them at target I believe. Ha ha- and this coming from someone who is far away from being prego!
I haven't tried the bella band. And the maternity pants fit. There is a rubber band trick that I am starting to use for my other pants. You loop one end in the button hole and the other around the button.
