11 months

can i say it again... it blows my mind that eva is 11 months (almost 1)

she can:
take a few steps not holding onto anything, but she does it subconsciously
play peekaboo
wave to people
hug, people and the dog
say no.
hand you objects
drink from a sippy cup by herself

she has:
two teeth. and they're a bit crooked. all that room in her mouth and the first two don't even come in straight.
she has another tooth on the way
wavy hair, or maybe curly. we can't tell because it's not very long.

she likes to:
climb into cupboards
pull books off the shelves
open and close doors and drawers
bate the dog with the dog toys

today has been hard

sometimes i wonder if i'm mommy material. i wondered that before i was married, before i was pregnant, and before i became a mom. i still wonder. but i keep trying to be a good mom even through the rough patches.

today has been a hard day
i tried to be super woman and super productive
i didn't waste {too} much time on the internet
i transcribed a tape
i cleaned up around the house
but you would never know
i folded one load of laundry {so far}
i boiled and shredded some chicken for dinner
the baby has been yelling/crying since she woke up from her third nap
yes she took a third nap
she was that grumpy
i edited some photos
i have made sugar cookies
we lost two
but the baby enjoyed the aftermath
yes i've become so desperate that i'm feeding the baby cookies
she doesn't mind that this is what we've resorted to
i have the rice going for dinner
it's been hard and i've yelled a couple times {due to the loss of cookies}
but i wouldn't trade today for anything
i like being home with miss grumpy pants

eew

as an adult in civilized society you don't talk about poop with other people, and you probably don't even think about it that much anyway. until you become a mom. then it rules your life. i realized that more so this morning. my sweet daughter woke me up and was happy to see me and then i smelled her and was not happy with the present she had for me. then i was the one to take the dog out and had to pick up after her. i had only been up for 3o min and had cleaned up after two little beings. i know this poop thing won't be over if i continue to keep dogs, have more children, and i know that when kids learn to use the toilet they don't master the paper for some time. i've also only called the pediatrician three times. two of those times have had to deal with how my child's bowl movements are going. what do i do for constipation? now i'm an expert. lately what do i do for diarrhea? i guess if this is the worst things we go through with our little ones then i'm pretty darn lucky because everything else is pretty great.

@ home

right now i have some work i'm supposed to be doing. it's hard because there is a baby in my lap. if she's not in my lap right now then she's crying. i love being able to work from home. i love that i can stay with my daughter during the rough times. the work will still get done... just slower.

some day's aren't good days

today eva doesn't want to nap. so she has looked like this most of the day.

this has made for a bad day.

but now that i think about it... any day that i have with this sweet little girl is actually a good day for many reasons.

perfect fit

Dear Sweet Eva,

I find it perfectly sweet how your body fits with mine. Your head seems to know just the right spot to nestle on my shoulder when you're tired, sad or playful.
